Galveston Tuna Fishing Charters (Overnight)

On our Tuna Fishing Charters, we embark on an exciting journey over 100 miles off the Galveston coast for an unforgettable deep-sea adventure. Departing in the afternoon, we fish our way through the sunset along the Texas coast, targeting some of the most prized game fish. Throughout the afternoon, we focus on grouper, kingfish, mahi, big snapper, wahoo, and more. As night falls, we shift gears and switch our tactics to target tuna as they feed.

Target Species

Our primary targets are Yellowfin Tuna and Blackfin Tuna. Yellowfin are highly sought after for their impressive size and exceptional flavor, while Blackfin provide an exciting fight and tasty meat. The peak season for these tuna runs from June to September, when warm water temperatures and abundant baitfish draw these migratory predators closer to shore.

As we wait for the tuna bite to heat up, we also target a variety of other pelagic and reef-dwelling species, fishing both on our way out and back.

Where We Go

Tuna are always found in areas rich in food. They seek out strong currents and upwellings, which bring nutrient-packed waters to the surface, drawing in baitfish. These prime locations can include:

  • Deepwater banks and ledges: These underwater structures create breaks in the flat seafloor, attracting baitfish and providing the perfect environment for tuna to ambush prey.
  • Weed lines: Floating seaweed lines often attract baitfish, which in turn draw in tuna.
  • Areas of convergence: Where different water masses meet, creating highly productive zones.
  • Floating objects: Tuna frequently gather around floating debris, such as logs and buoys.

The Flower Gardens is a vast coral reef system located 90-110 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, accessible only through our Blue Water EXTREME trips. This one-of-a-kind ecosystem features depths ranging from 200 to over 1,000 feet, teeming with life, including giant grouper and wahoo.
