Target Species

We target a mix of Galveston's most iconic species.

Sheepshead

Sheepshead are popular in Galveston, known for their striped bodies and human-like teeth. Typically found around structures such as jetties, piers, and wrecks, they feed on crustaceans like barnacles, crabs, and shrimp.

Spotted Seatrout

Spotted seatrout are among the most highly prized catches on our inshore trips, known for their exciting fight and exceptional flavor. The peak season for speckled trout fishing typically occurs during the spring and fall months.

Shark

Off the coast of Galveston, anglers can find a range of shark species, including Blacktip, Spinner, Bonnethead, and Bull Sharks. The prime times for shark fishing vary based on the species and water temperature.

Cobia

Cobia are a highly sought-after eating fish, often found near floating objects like buoys, rigs, and shrimp boats. The best season for cobia fishing in Galveston is typically during the spring and summer months.

Red Snapper

Known for their hard fight and excellent taste, red snapper is one of our favorite species to catch. The peak season for red snapper fishing in the Gulf of Mexico is usually during the summer, from late May to late July.

Wahoo

Wahoo are typically found in deeper waters, often around reefs, wrecks, and various offshore structures. The prime season for wahoo fishing in Galveston generally extends from November through March.

Flounder

Flounder are a fun-to-catch and delicious species we frequently target. The peak seasons for flounder fishing in Galveston typically occur in the spring and fall, when water temperatures are more moderate.

Tuna

From June through September, the summer months provide the prime time for catching tuna off the Galveston coast. During this peak season, we target a variety of Yellowfin, Blackfin, and Skipjack Tuna.

Grouper

Several species of grouper, including Red Grouper, Gag Grouper, and Black Grouper, can be found off the coast of Galveston. These fish are typically located in deeper waters around reefs, wrecks, and artificial structures.

Redfish

The ideal time to catch Redfish is during the fall, especially from September to November, when larger "bull reds" migrate through the area. We primarily target them around structures like jetties and piers.
